Draining for freezing temps.

Can anyway recommend a good, easy/ not too technical way to remove water from the system, should a sudden freeze happen?
Not only for at home when the van is on the driveway, but also for if I was on a 2 day ferry to Spain in subzero temperatures out at sea?

I doubt that a ferry going to Spain would see sub zero temperatures especially if the outfit is inside the ship. But even outside temperatures are influenced by the temperature of the ocean. It’s not a PQ17 journey to Murmansk.

All I ever did was drain the system down prior to leaving a site by opening the drain valve on the hot water tank and all of the taps including the shower. A lot drains out on the journey. When not being used in winter if it was on the drive or in store I would uncouple the shower head and blow down the hot and cold lines.

I always blow out via the shower , the highest point of the system,removing the head and then pump water out connecting to the hose. Never seen the point of the Blowndown kits for the water inlet, blowing water uphill.

I have always done as OC and Birdman, BUT when one of my water pumps for the aqua roll decided to go unserviceable, I converted the connection head to the caravan, into be able to blow water out of the system, I was amazed as to how much more water came out from the system.
For myself it's a case of open taps all round connect the fitting to the caravan, run the low pressure air pump 12psi, close taps except one, at a time.
Works for me.
