Easter disaster

Got a phonecall Thursday night to say the site we had booked for easter was waterlogged. Internet down, so couldn't book anywhere else. Friday morning found a local site with space- great- could turn up early too. Set off to collect caravan from storage. Needless to say, field very boggy and car not towing anything. Started to rut in so had to abandon ship, along with another caravanner.

So back home.

As newbies to this, started considering selling up , as it's the second time we've had problems. Finding storage on hardstandings around here ( Kent) very, very difficult. So considering going further affield and doing store and camp , either Thetford c&cc site or Hertford. Anyone got experience of these?

Found another storgage site in Essex called Barnfield- anyone know of it?

Thanks

We've just ended six years of camp and store at Heartford. Couldn't complain, good storage on Gravel. Site open all year so no problem with access.

It's only good value for money if you use the two nights camping a month. Otherwise it's very expensive.

We stopped because we wanted to go elsewhere. Over the years we have been to every C&CC site in the south east and many beyond and just wanted the flexibility to do something else (I object to paying for something and not using it).

If the club did a storage only option during the summer like they do in the winter I would consider storing there again so long as it was reasonably priced.

Have you not thought about getting a motor mover fitted once its on job done, unless its very very boggy it will pull the van out onto the roadway hitch up and go.

We went to Cheddar Bridge this w/e grass very wet and soggy, put m/m on, caravan went back onto pitch lovely even though it left sunken tracks in the grass.

Just a thought.

Keep persavering Im sure you will come up with the right answer soon.

You've got thewrong Ian, Keswick is miles away!!

We went to keswick and had a fantastic time once again. The site staff were fantastic with people that waterlogged but it never shut the site. In fact the views where superb with snow on the hills. I have been twice now and seen all aspects of weather. I'll be booking for next year. It got a bit hairy driving in the wind though.
