Hi I am new to caravanning and have a question about the lighting in my 1994 van. The answer might be obvious but I am scratching my head.

Why do only half of the lights in the van work? Are there 2 seperate lighting circuits in caravans? Is it because my battery is not sufficiently charged?

Hi Simon,

You might get a better response if you repost this over on Technical. It might also help if you give the make and model of your caravan. On some vans certain lights are mains powered while others are 12v powered. I don't know if this might be what is happening with you.

you could test the voltage of the ones that are working, that will help you decide if there is a fault or if there are two sets of circuits!

There are usually 2 circuits for lighting 12v & 240v if you are not connected to the mains via an electric cable then only the 12v lights will work. These are usualy the flourescent lights. the lights at the front of the van usually over t seats are 240v
