Hi all just wondering if there was a type of exterior clean for £10 that produced great results with no mess no damage & including roof that was fully insured takes about 30 minutes could be done on site or at home would you have it done? With a demo if needed to prove it, or would you still wash it your self?

Me being me I'd still do it myself. Can't even get a window cleaner who wants to clean my house windows properly, had three and all three were a waste of time, even though they charged

What I mean to say is we are thinking of starting a car/caravan cleaning business on the basis of dry steam that will get in the the places around seals etc.. but no damage like a jetwash & quicker & better than by hand

Whilst the concept is reasonable, the figures just do not add up.

Also the use of steam on a caravan is not particularly appealing due to the different materials used in manufacture.

To start with I am presuming you intend to be mobile? If you are then some places will not have power so a generator is needed.

If so then you have to put into your charging costs the price of the machinery, cost of vehicle, road tax, insurance, mot, wear and tear and servicing, fuel costs, business insurance, personal indemnity, product indemnity, and of course your wages, and those who work with you, plus the tax burden.

Take into consideration that many owners only clean their vans once or twice a year and you will see that the market is very limited, and with the current economic situation one of the first things to be shelved would be paying to do something the owner can do themselves.

Having seen a caravan valet at work I can assure you that it takes a lot longer than the equivalent of one hour to clean a van completely, and the state of some they can take all day.

I think you need to really research your idea and work out proper costings.

With all due respect to the contributers to the forum, you need to research your area, or the area you intend to offer your service to.

Look around, how many vans are there? are there dealers who may be interested? are there any storage sites?

If all the figures work out, then good luck, but I am sure you will have to charge a lot more than

While I am sure you are not in the same category being caravanners, I would be very loathe to allow any valeting Company near the van. Firstly they could easily remove any decals and secondly, I would bet the fridge vents get filled with water sooner or later.

Persdonally I find a good going over with a cleaner such as 'Muck Off' and a wash down with a hose works wonders. I also can ensure that water does not get under the roof vents and inside.

Thats the whole point of the steam, yes we are caravaners & would not let anyone near with a jet wash for fear of damage, steam no chemicals no damage on delicate areas steam applied a second or so

Ha Ha, just asked my better half, "Would you trust anyone else to wash the outside of the caravan?" He said "Yes,......YOU"

Says it all really......
