Mr Jones

would you give us your oppinion on whether the jockey wheel can be raised when the van is sited.

There has been great debate on here as to whether the jockey wheel must take some of the weight of the chassis along with the steadies, or can it be left in the raised position when sited.

I go along with the latter

To answer your question, provided the corner steadies are down and the vehicle is level, there is no specific need to have the jockey wheel on the ground. The steadies should provide enough stability once sited, as long as the vehicle is level. In our opinion it may be preferential to have the jockey wheel just in contact with the ground to act as a support mechanism should the vehicle not be quite level. For example, this would prevent the caravan from tilting forward when people are inside the caravan.
