Hi Hamer, from reading another post I see that you have a Shogun. We are looking to get one and have decided on the 3.2 diesel auto LWB. Couldn't get a match on whattowcar as the Shogun wasn't listed, but we presently tow our Lunar Quasar 615 with a Vauxhall Omega 2.5V6 and it is 85%. I'm sure the Shogun will be better then that. Anyhow how do you rate the car, and does it tow well. Anything we should be aware of before we part with £10+. Thanks Denise

I am on my 3rd Shogun auto, my present one I have had for 2 and a half years, it is a 3.2 LWB 2004 elegance auto. I have never had a problem with any of them.I tow large twin axles.

If you have a towbar fitted make sure you have a 1 to 1 and a half inch spacer bar fitted between the towbar and the tow ball, this makes hitching up easier with the spare wheel being where it is.

When towing always tow in 4 wheel drive as stated by Mitsubishi.

On A roads and motorways i just leave the gearbox in auto, however in hilly country i use tiptronic.

The Shogun is a wonderful towcar and you will soon discover you have made an excellent choice.

It is important to make sure the tracking on the front wheels is correct to protect against wear on the outer edges of the tyres. Mitsubishi now recomend an extra 2 pound in each tyre. I have found this solves the problem.

A couple more of important tips.

Never start the engine until the Glowplug warning light on the dashboard has gone out. This goes out from cold about 5 seconds after you turn on the ignition. When the engine is warm it will not come on. This will make sure you have no problems with the glowplugs.

On starting the engine from cold if possible allow it to idle for about 10 seconds to allow the oil to circulate in the turbocharger. Also when towing the caravan or after a long high speed run solo do not switch off the engine immediatly you stop. Allow it to idle for about 30 seconds to let the turbocharger cool down. This greatly prolongs the life of the turbocharger.

Both these points are in the manual but missed or not read by a lot of people.

Thanks Hamer, we have bought a 2003 warrior LWB 3.2 DID auto and pick it up on sat. It already has a tow pack on so I hope it is OK with the hitching up. I will show my husband your replies as that all sounds a bit technical to me. We were going to get a manual, but two different salesmen put us off and told us to get auto. Will let you know how we get on at the weekend. Denise
