My self I am partial to a nice pint of southern ale, Ringwood Forty-Niner, Gales HSB, London Pride and Spitfire from the Faversham brewery, those sorts of ales. I like apple juice as well so long as it’s fermented and proper stuff not high-proof apple flavoured alcohol in a can/ bottle. The Long Haired Admiral is partial to a drop of wine and apple juice as well. Before we had children and we camped under canvass the general rule was that the beverages were issued before the Accommodation was constructed, these days I tend to wait until I am sure that she hasn’t forgotten the tea bags before I engage bottle opener. So what do you chaps (and chappettes) like to imbibe of a camping evening?

You cannot beat a good single malt when relaxing in an evening although I do not object to a glass of beer or wine if available.

You can keep your flat hoppy ales, give me a heavy northern brew anytime, Theakstons Old peculier for me. Certainly it needs to be dark and malty, not pale and hoppy.

Single malt, a 20 year old Glenmorangie in a port wood finish sits well, as does Laphroag. Also partial to a Port Ellen if you can get it. My only chance is when a wealthy friend of mine is feeling expansive. Im not paying £400 a bottle, thats for sure.

.

I've been up the t'north more than a few times and I can get over the half pint of froth you have to get through in order to get to the Eau de Maiden underneath. Proper ale made from proper Southern hard water from the Chalk. ;)

I am rather partial to the odd pint of real ale despite it being not terribly lady-like and like to try the local brews wherever I am. Other than that either a glass of wine or a G&T or a cup of tea !

where to begin?
A GOOD red wine
Prosecco or preferably Champagne
a nice, light, cold White Grenache
also, and weather dependant: Bombay Sapphire Gin and Fevertree eldflower tonic, or Pimms and lemonade.
Sir Fixalot likes a good real ale, Thatchers cider, Ardbeg whiskey or a nice drop of Courvoisier. The kids will drink whatever they can scrounge!!

Cold lager or IPA if BBQ-ing, Bacardi and tonic, later, good lady likes a nice dry white wine, but Craig try Pastis 51, much nicer than Pernod.
Looking forward to this SS.

First off Crene de Menthe is what Toulouse la Trec and and the Pope drink. Green and minty

Second off, doesn't Brandy and lovage make you f#rt. Or don't you care after the vodka.

Mel, in a moment of desperation, and wanting Strawberrys and fizzy, put white wine through the soda stream, , release very slow. Add black pepper. :cheer:

That would probably be a "goodnight hurl", especially after a session on Old Pec.

"Creme de menthe, isnt that what Ruperts drink?

Dont do Cider, Lager, white wine, anything fizzy, gin or brandy. Tend to save that for the ladies. No offence chaps.

What is our hobby coming to.
