As per title really. We are looking to begin off season camping from this year, looking for a few inspiring locations to visit this autumn - some gardens and esp arboretums can be amazing at this time of year. Will rejoin C&C Club so picking their sites first

Interested to hear where folks might recommend because our current list is short and slightly lacking in imagination

FWIW our hit list is:
Thorp Perrow Arboretum, possibly camping at C&C Club Boroughbridge
Batsford Arboretum, staying C&C Chipping Norton

Bracelands in Forestof Dean. Beautiful colours of the forest and the site exits are directly into the forest trails. Hard and grass pitches. There is also an arboretum in the Forest and Sculpture trail too. Excellent walking and cycling trails with plenty of cycle hire places. Well sited for trips into Monmouth and its county. We had booked a seasonal for 2020, and the rest is history. !

We "do" gardens, historic buildings and railways.
Last year we stayed at
This is close to:
Chirk Castle and Garden
Erdig Manor and Garden
Powis Castle and Garden
All of which were excellent
I'll stay quiet on the Preserved Railways but there are a few.

This year its the Sussex and Kent border.

Previous years we have crossed the Tamar as there are several good gardens in Cornwall and I don't include the Eden Project in that definition.
Lost Gardens of Heligan
Trelissick
Glendurgan
Trebah
Staying at
and
Veryan C&CC site

Worth looking on the NGS website for gardens open to the public. For example we stayed at Ashridge C&MC site when it was Baldock open gardens - I think it was £5pp to visit several individual gardens that were open that weekend - as well as watching a few overs on the village ground and food at two local pubs in easy walking distance from our pitch!
Similarly if interested in local artists look for Open Studios website - another example we stayed at Cambridge C&CC site and visited several city studios on the Saturday and some county venues on the Sunday.
