is it any good and is there a lake or a pond on the site, because yesterday l was looking at a review of the site and it sounded like the caravans were pitched near water, and we don't want to be near water for my sons safety. any information on the site will be appreciated.

thank you

sharon.

Sharon,

Ferry meadows c/c site there are two positioned both sides of the road that takes you into the actual Ferry Meadows Park.

One side is mainly hard standings, the other site is grass, with a superb childrens play area.

There are miles of traffic free cycle/walking paths within the park, the lakes are linked to the river nene which runs just outside the park.

There is the local nene railway line that runs along the side of park of the cc site , with a station short walk from the park, steam locos run during the school holidays/bank holidays and most weekends during the summer , which can take you into Peterborough.

We use this site a lot (our local)you need to book well in advance as weekends tend to be fully booked.

regarding your worry regarding your children and the lakes, some paths run parallel to the lakes , but there are plenty of bushes and trees between the paths and the actual lakes, not enough to spoil the views.Lots of water birds,(take plenty of bread) several children play areas within the park, also large areas of open grasslands.

Trust this quick description is enough for you and your family to enjoy all the facilties that this park has to offer,

Royston

Hello Sharon

I don't think you'll have a problem with the lakes and river as the site is well fenced in apart from the main access.Even then its a five minute walk to the main lakes etc.The grass site over the road is great for kids as they can play in the large spaces and you can keep an eye on them. We went last Easter and had a great time - the cycleway's for families are superb.

Sharon,

I live in Peterborough and have used Ferrymeadows as a weekend retreat, even though its only 10 minutes from home.

As other contributors have added i don't believe you will have a problem from a safety point of view. The Site is far enough away to be safe and yet surprisingly close enough for a stroll and cycle round. There is a Brewers Fayre pub on the way in to the site along side the golf course. There is a Fish and Chip van in the car park on the grass pitch side which i think is resident at peak times.

The far end of the park is the boating / sailing area with canoes and pedal boats for hire. There are a couple of small cafes the one at the sailing area is licensed.

Its a great place i'm sure you'll enjoy
