My partner supplies such a thing, but forum etiquette states "You may not transmit any advertising or promotional material", so I cannot tell you exactly where to look but you may know where.

The hose you need for a full service , should be food grade quality ,the chemicals that the hose is made of can leak into your water ,plus you may be left with a foul taste ,and is it worth risking your health to save an extra tenner

Just to add to Joby's words of caution, avoid yello plastic fittings adn pipes unless they are specifically marked up as suitable for potable water or food grade, the yellow colourant is frequently cadmium, and highly dangerous to swallow.

Hi Allyson,

Don,t buy cheap hose buy a good quality food grade hose. The cheap ones never roll up very well, they get twisted and you get horrible tasting water through them, also a good quality hose will last you a long time.Happy Caravanning.Jim

The forum rule you quote is intended to prevent businesses blatantly posting unsolicited adverts for their goods or services.

If a user posts a message asking where to obtain something, then I see no problem in another user naming a company that could help. Genuine recommendation, in response to an enquiry, is an important part of us being able to help eachother.

Have a good search on the internet Moses (ebay and the like), you do need the food grade hose, and as I found out last year, you may as well go for the Aqua roll extension. Strangely in the caravan world, it's not bad value and you will be sure of getting all the correct conections with it. You will of course need the Aqua Roll mains adapter http://www.towsure.com/product.asp?p=1492 to be fully independant on a fully serviced pitch.

Hope this helps.

Went to buy a secondhand Aqua Roll mains water kit tonight.

Looked good gentleman showed me the white cistern that fitted into the side of the Aqua Roller told me to look through the top and make sure that the cap faced down for the water to come through automatically.

I asked what connections where on the other side only to be showed a green re-enforced hose pipe with normal male female connections.

I told the genteman that's what I had and was recommened the food type, he told me this was re-enforced not like the food pipe which could burst due to pressure on some sites.

In the paper he advertised it for

All pipes for drinking water should be blue.

Brian (",)
I told him that my hubby and myself had seen the correct equipment what he said he was selling from our local dealer with a blue pipe, and he told me it may not been re-enforced like the pipe he was selling.

I told him I had recently been told a food pipe should be blue, and not green as he had and said I already had one of these so it was no good buying another and left it.

Can you tell me can you get the pump he was showing me separate?

If so how much?

Having read the Moderators comment on my reply, I think I can tell you where to go to see my partners listing. Please go to Ebay and search for seller "jacquiecamper". She has full kits and lengths of hose available. If you click on the "ME" icon, you will see why she does this.

Happy Caravanning

As someone working in a connected industry let me reassure you that the colour of the hose is completely irrelevant. The most important factor is that that hoses being used for the delivery of potable water are identifiable as "FOOD GRADE". Such hoses are available in many colours, blue, red, yellow, green and multi coloured. In many cases WRC certified food grade hoses will be marked as such along their length and so this is probably your best guarantee that you're buying a safe product. A food grade hose will usually incorporate an inert Polyethylene liner and will contain no Cadmium, Barium or plasticisers. And it's the plasticisers in regular garden hoses which are responsible for that classic caravan tasting tea!

Another factor to consider is the hose should be reinforced. This is typically a "knitted" layer bonded within the outer casing of the hose and is either visible through the transparent outer layer or it may be noticeable as a criss cross texturing to the outer surface of opaque hoses. Some camping/caravaning accessory suppliers sell nice shiny bright blue 1/2" hoses by the metre. Whilst these look very pretty they do not have any reinforcement. Only this year I saw a caravanner using a 10m length of this for his mains water kit whilst in the Dordogne. In temperatures of 80 degrees and with high water pressure the hose got fatter by the day until the inevitable happened and it split along its length flooding his pitch.

So, my advice to you is this, select your hose carefully, disregard the colour, ensure it's marked along it's length as food grade and look for one which incorporates reinforcement. That way you'll know you're drinking safe water, your tea will taste wonderful and you can sleep peacefully knowing your pitch won't be flooded in the morning. And the really good news is quality hoses often cost no more than poor ones masquerading as the real macoy .

eBay seller "smithsktc" also sells excellent hoses and kits. The kit I bought recently was superb value and the hose was clearly marked as Food Grade etc
