On our last night in our new van, which our dealer delivered to our seasonal pitch on Friday, it was a crazy day fair play, first the electrics failed on our trailer which we were using to take all our stuff to our pitch, managed to get it sorted, handover went smoothly, got to our pitch only to have a call from our dealer saying they were going to be late because they we’re stuck in traffic because of an accident, finally got in the van a few hours later only to find out we got the wrong pump for the water barrel so it was a 35 minute drive back to our dealer to get a new one, we got there just as they were closing. Got back to the van around 7pm, by the time we put some of the stuff away and settled down with a nice glass wine, the heating and hot water failed. Called the dealer the next day and they sent someone down later that afternoon to fix it. Our caravan carpet is a bit dirty because of the mud from the rain, didn’t put the awning up because my husband didn’t want to get it covered in mud. Had a more relaxed day today, back home tomorrow until next weekend, but we’ve loved every minute and can’t wait till the next time.

Glad you got it sorted in the end. We always removed the caravan carpets unless fully fitted, and used machine washable cotton mats.

We have one of those Turtle mats in the doorway and a plastic runner on the carpet between the two front bunks. Works for us. Hope you have many more enjoyable days away with your new hobby.

I removed our carpets and bought a 4x5 meter off cut, and have that full fitted, so no gaps around the floor anywhere. Easier to clean. 4 x 5 meters gives me two complete fits. £100. A good vacum every time home and a Wet Vac if needed.

All's well that ends well!

We removed the living area and kitchen carpet and just have the 'wood' floor (easy to clean). We have kept the carpet in the rear between the single beds. For loading/unloading/setting up etc we have a piece of old carpet we lay down in the van to keep it mostly clean, this then goes in the awning entrance on site as a place to transition between dirty outside and clean inside. It also makes a comfortable place to stand whilst you put shoes on and off when on hard standing.

We loved our seasonal pitch. Saved our sanity. Life has moved on now and we no longer have it, but hope you enjoy your weekend escapes as much as we did.
