I'm replacing a damaged wheel arch trim on my 20yr old Sprite Musketeer. It looks like the original fixings were 4mm plasic or nylon pop rivets. I have a pop rivet gun but I don't know where to get the 6 rivets I need. I've looked on tinternet but the only ones I found were in boxes of 1,000. can anyone advise me, thanks, Mark.

Thanks very much for the info, now I know what to look for. I'll go and check the existing hole sizes in the body work a bit more accurately. Looking at the plastic wheel arch trim I've got here in the house it has 5mm holes

Right then, I've removed the remains of the old drive rivets and now know what size I need.
The hole diameters on the caravan side wall are 4.8mm. (accepts a 3/16" drill-bit perfectly, a 5mm drill-bit doesn't fit)
Judging by the remains of the old drive rivets it seems I need 6 new rivets of 4.8mm diameter with a shank length of 14mm and a head diameter of about 7 or 8mm.
I've now spent hours on the internet unsuccesfully.
I did find precisely the size I want in white but only if I buy 1,000. A common problem, either that or it's only in black or only in a bigger size.
I did try tool-supplies.co thanks Damien but they are 6mm dia with a 10mm head costing £25.00 plus postage for a pack of 50.
I've already had to pay nearly £50.00 for the replacement wheel arch and that was 2nd hand! now it seems I have to pay half as much again just to nail it to the van. (if I wanted black they would be less 1/4 the price)
I could drill everything out to a larger size but I'd rather keep it original and at least matching the other wheel arch.
I did suggest to one supplier that if he just sent me 6 in an envelope it could be sent as a sample with the added bonus that we wouldn't be wasting the other 994 and that he could feel so much more virtuous in this throw away wastefull society that we live in........didn't work sadly.
Anyone got any suggestions?
(4.8mm hole size, 14mm shank length approx, 7-8mm head dia, in white)

Just a thought but land rover use them on Discovery. Don't know what sizes they are but I think that there are a range of sizes used.

I would buy the bag of twenty for £2.00 drill the original holes larger & fit them, you could replace the old ones at the other side for free from the eight that you have left

If you realy want a 3/16" rivet ? you can get it in alloy ?

Thanks for that Trevor, just googled drive rivets for Land Rover. Unfortunately they are too short and only available in Black.
I've sent off for the pack of 20 on ebay that Sprocket suggested (thankyou Sprocket), they are much larger then required (7mm diameter as opposed to 4.8mm and 25mm long as opposed to 15mm) but at only £2.00 it might be worth drilling out to a larger size.
However I am meanwhile still searching for the correct size as I'm wary of drilling holes in the caravan any larger than I have to.

haha yes good plan!

the simplest solutions are so often the best.
Silly me thought it would be so easy to order the correct size fixings for such a common caravan as a Sprite Musketeer, nothing is so straight forward.
I wonder if there are sprite owners all over the country with boxes of 994 spare rivets in their garage haha!

Sent off for the 7mm rivets on ebay, pictured here next to the remains of the original one.
what an amazing size difference going from 4.8mm to 7mm diameter.
It's too big in diameter. (only cost £2.00 fortunately)
Even if I drill out the holes to 7mm the rivet head is too big to sit on the wheel arch trim.
I could cut the length shorter and trim the head with a stanley blade and drill to 7mm but to be honest I think thats a codge job.
Can only find 5mm in black
6mm available but costing best part £25.00 or there abouts plus postage! (still on the large size and over £4.00 per rivet!)
All I need are 6 drive rivets 4.8mm dia.
But where from?
Anyone?

It would be quite easy to trim the head down to a smaller size with the use of a drill

Ideally put the drill into a vice or workmate to hold it secure.
Put the four legs into the chuck on a drill & as it revolves under power, use a file on the edge & it will reduce the head diameter down to whatever size that you require.....
High spinning speed & minimal pressure & it will work ok.

BUT NO LOOSE CLOTHES NEAR TO THE CHUCK, EVEN A DRILL HAS A LOT OF TORQUE & CAN DO A LOT OF HARM.....

If you are not confident ?????

Keep searching for the correct size as £25 is not worth a visit to your local A&E
