The fluorescent tube over the sink/cooker in my Hymer requires renewing it works on my 12v system.

I have seen one of the same size whilst going round B&Q but it did not state a voltage on it.

It is 600mm long by 25mm dia, with ( 18/35w printed on the side )

Would it work ?? Or do I have to get a dedicated one ??

As it does not state anything in the manual about it.

Thanks.

Sproket.

Hello Sproket,

You need to remove the tube from the fitting in the caravan, and you should find printed on the side of the tube its rating.

Only replace it with one of exactly the same rating, other wise you might over heat the driver circuit in the fitting.

Thats what im afraid of the only printing on the tube is 18/35w, i will get one from a dealer to be on the safe side

Thanks.

Hello Sproket,

The mist clears a-bit ..

I thought your 3rd paragraph referred to the 2nd, and that meant you did not know what the tube in the caravan said.

with that cleared up, and provided both tubes are rated 18/35W then the B&Q should work.

The fitting in the caravan should do the necessary voltage conversions from 12V to what the tube needs run.

Just to add ........Take care when fitting.

Although the tubes work from a 12 volt dc supply, the fitting contains an inverter that pushes the voltage up considerably....

Treat with respect they can give you quite a fierce shock ... so make sure the supply is off before fitting!!
