I have just purchased a mondeo2.0 TDci LX and would love to hear from anyone that tows with this car and what they think of it. I will be towing a 2 berth caravan with an MTPLM of 1250kg
Mondeos rule - apart from the dodgy cluth. I also tow around 1360kgs, knows its there but having to ease off going up hills as it just wants to keep on going.
I tow a Coachman Amara 520/4 and changed form a Frontera to a 2Lt TDCI Estate last year, two days before going to France. It's awesome at pulling my van - totally blows the Frontera out of sight. It taken anything thrown at it, I think that as it's the Ghia spec and has self levelling rear suspension this does help. Just wish i hadn't listened to my wife and got one instead of the 4X4....
i have owned 3 towcars a ford mondeo 2.5 V6 a Nissan Terrano 2.7 Td, and my current car Ford Mondeo 130 TDCI estate ,allthough my current pulls well ,the best out the 3 was the Mondeo 2.5 V6 you hardly ever had to change down , but it really was juicy towing a caravan
I too own a Mondeo TDCi 130 and it's a great towcar. Last time I towed with it my father was with me, as I was towing his van for him, he commmented that it felt like it was pulling better than his 2.5TD Vauxhall Omega auto. I have also taken it on a Caravan Club towing course with me, and the instructor commented that "people who tow with Mondeos, never seen to have a problem on the open road".
I have a Mondeo 2 litre diesel DCI 115ps. I am told by a dealer that I should not pull more than 1275 Kilos. I am aiming for 1400 kilos. Will it pull it? He says there is a law coming into force that says you cannot pull more than 85%. I don`t beleive it.
