We laptop is set to UK English and all other forums and websites there are no issues. However on this forum it seems to ignore the UK English and default to the US spelling as it does not like "s" and prefers "z". It took me years to get out of using "z" instead of "s", but now it seems I no longer have the option.

Anyone else having issues with US spelling on this forum?

It is most likely the language your browser is set to, not what the forum is set as. I use Chrome, to change my spell check language I go to chrome://settings/languages

As said, language on my unit is set to UK English and I do not have this issue on other forums as my browser is set to GB English i.e. tantalise is underlined in red, but tantalize is not. Just checked and it is the same for Edge.

tantalise tantalize - bothare ok without underlining - using Firefox on a desktop Windows 10
However it should have underlined in red "bothare" where you forgot to insert a blank? On my system "tantalise", "bothare" and ok" are all underlined in red when replying to the last post.

It didn't otherwise I'd have corrected it - it's obviously down to the settings on your device or browser.

Both are , when I typed that in as one word my browser automatically corrects it to to two words, If I want it as one word (Botheare) I have to click on the word in auto correct.

The issue might lie with your spell checker settings if you're using one.
It missed the wrongly spelled title of this thread though 🙂

Thanks corrected it now. I don't think any spell checker notifies you of an incorrectly spelt heading? I am using English GB spell checker for FF and my laptop is set to English UK.

In Firefox when replying to a message, if you right click and go to languages, what do see is it UK or US? This may well be different to the Language Settings in Firefox settings which only seem to affect the menus and notifications.

Okay thanks for the helpful post. Not sure why but for this forum the language default was US. I have altered it to UK English. Hopefully it will keep that default.

Future PLC are a US company who operate a multitude of websites and forums run by a US server.
That could be why the default is US/English.

I played with this last night on my iPad. I use Grammarly (free version) with Safari and Chrome and Pages.

I have made every setting I can find to UK English. But it is still unreliable. On Safari it now accepts both centre and center. But not always. It still tries to give me American spelling. It also wants to hyphenate much more than I would dream of!

Even after making sure the settings were on the UK, I get miss-spellings and UK spellings underlined. As picture.
