I wonder if any of you has come across and solved the problem of when the wind blows(as it invariably does in this country!) and the van is in a position to break the wind, my fridge gas vents x2 are into the wind, and a ****** to keep the gas on. I have totally blocked the top vent and down to a 1/3 on the bottom, it has helped, but fumes are sensed in the van?

Hello steve,

Never block air or flue ways for gas appliances. It is very dangerous.

The fact is the fridge should be capable of burning correctly in all reasonable wind conditions. The conditions we have at the moment are quite normal and the fridge shoudl run normally.

I strongly suggest you have the frisge checked and serviced if necessary by a competent gas fitter.

It all depends on what you call normal windy conditions.
I have just returned from Stowford Farm where the wind damaged several awnings & when my son opened his door the wind blew the oven out.
In your situation I would have turned the caravan round so that so that the fridge vents were on the leeward side of the van, but it would not hurt to get the fridge serviced

Yes, we had "nithering" winds in the North east, problem with turning the van round is we then put the awning windward, uncomfortable, especially at night when it tries to take off! i am going to look at the burner next weekend and blow the flue out

Unless you are gas competent I would not even touch it. All domestic gas appliance must be serviced by a gas safe registerd fitter.

If you can see the burner by removing the the vents & not having to dismantle any gas parts you should be ok to blow any debris away from the burner with an airline.
I only have one top vent for my fridge & so had to have the fridge removed to get rid of the remains of a spider that had found somewhere for the winter till I cremated it
