Our fridge has stopped working on the electric 240 or 12 volts.
It works fine on gas.
Help please.

Presumably you have it switched on and the electric hooked up. Can you explain what if anything is happening. What make of fridge, what age???

it is a Dometic fridge in a 2005 Lunar.
it is connected to the mains, i have checked the fuses followed the cables looking for anything unusual.
when connected to the 240 or 12 volt there is no noise ( never was when it worked ) there are no lights on the front to give any indication of a it being on.
when on gas in works fine.

thanks.

The fridge will only work on 12v when coupled to the car via the grey plug, AND the car engine is running. The fridge could have a standard 13amp plug for 240v, this may be hidden in a cupboard somwhere. First thing to check is the fuse in this plug (if you can find one). Secondly suspect the 240v element, but unless you have acess to the correct test equipment and are confident with electrics you should get this checked by a qualified engineer. The fridge may have to come out to change the element and as this involves the gas side being disturbed, this will also need to be checked on refitting.
You could try www.mcea.co.uk or www.approvedworkshops.co.uk

My previous caravan had a separate mains plug and socket at the back of the cupboard next to the fridge. Somehow the plug got disturbed and pulled out of teh socket. I rang the dealer who told me to check and that was the cure.
Secondly the interior fridge light will be 12 volts running off the leisure battery. Does this light up?
Nothing to do with running the fridge itself on 12v.

I had a 2004 Dometic, the element failed three times over 7 years.
You can buy them of the shelve at my local accessory shop.
I changed the last one myself.

Dometic did not buy out Electrolux, Dometic has been trading name of the Electrolux group for over 30 years, I was making Dometic caravan fridges at the Luton plant in 1973.

Hi dont want to state obvious but is the van level on all directions as they do not like to be too off level, Believe there is some thing inside to do with the freezer gas that cuts it off and thus prevents fridge from working. Good luck

I wouldn't know.
But from spokets link it states Dometic was formed in 2002 from the sale of the leisure product operations of elextrolux.
