Hi,we have a Swift Challenger 500 that we tow with a Nissan Xtrail and this was our first attempt at winter caravanning. We arrived at Chatsworth cc site having travelled from West Yorks for a 4 night stay. Connected everything up only to realise our gas was frozen, we knew we should have had the orange bottle but decided to take a chance, but no problem, OH wrapped a picnic blanket around the bottle in the locker and we were soon "cooking on gas" plus we have an electric hob as part of our cooker.(godsend) Next morning thick frost, water pump frozen, had to bring it in to defrost, again, no problem, we had bottled water onboard for a brew. Aquaroll was wrapped in dogs blanket for rest of the day, dog shivered but water was ok

. Obviously we had a great time and loads of laughs but we noticed that a lot of caravanners had blankets wrapped around their water containers and loads of items lagging their water pumps. We didn't see any insulated jackets specifically made for water water containers, on anyones containers, can't find any on the internet, are we looking for something that doesn't exist? Roll on summer (just joking) we love caravanning at anytime of the year.

This is what you need.
I bought a similar one from our local Swindon Caravans for £18.95 last october.
They also do bags for the waste master.

We survived -10degs C this winter with no problems

Hi & welcome to the forum ,Personaly I see no joy in the art of winter caravaning, but those that do advocate the use of an old anorac wrapped round the aquaroll with the pump assembly pulled through the sleeve. Also the aquaroll needs to be insulated from the ground by placing a square of islation foam under it. Me! I remain a summer camper

Hi Redsa, welcome to the Practical Caravan forum. Your dog will be very pleased to learn that there are several products now available for year round caravanners as more and more of us are enjoying winter breaks rather than putting our caravans away for months at a time.
A lot of caravanners use old water tank jackets, even old quilted coats or anoracks from charity shops would do the job but if you really want to look the part have a look at These from Bags 2 Cover. A bit on the expensive side I think so it might be worth shopping around.
p.s. If you buy one does your dog get to borrow it when you're not away in the caravan?
