At my local garage last week paid £1.92 which for around here is the cheapest, today I had to check twice as it has gone for diesel that is to £ 1.88. Can it be the start?.

Hopefully so here. Although in Europe the Euro went to parity with the dollar yesterday so they could stay high. Perhaps the governments intervention last week by planning to look again at the refining, retailing element may have borne fruit, as price of a barrel per dollar has come down and we hadn’t seen it.

I noticed that one of the garages I pass on my way to work was a penny a litre cheaper than yesterday morning, at 196.9 (diesel).

The local Costco is still the cheapest for miles around at 183.9, which is the same as I paid on Tuesday.

Wish I could afford a PHEV tow car :-(

Well, I visited Beach View at Sizewell in Suffolk, and got Esso petrol in Leiston for £183.9! I used the CAMC Fuelpecker card which meant 180.9! Very happy, but the prices around the place don't make sense

On Wednesday I was on the A38 heading to Bristol Airport, and a Shell station was selling petrol at 177.9. Bit miffed as I had filled up on the outskirts of Bristol at 183.9. But prices are heading down.

Costco still the cheapest near us 180 something. Causing so much traffic congestion on approach roads that they have had to employ a bloke in a hi vis jacket to direct the queue of traffic around the car park rather than back up on the approach road.

Amazing what power a hi vis jacket gives you.

So true Mel , our Eldest lad was in huge queue, to redgister for another year at Uni. Spotted his mate with Hi Vis jacket "Can I Help" , grabbed the jacket in and out within 45 minutes. M&D were £1800 lighter.

Hmm! People abusing the Hi-viz jacket? Eventually it will become commonplace occurence and people will begine to ignore people with high viz vets. It happens.

There are a few stations in Essex (one in Witham, one in Abridge) that have been selling petrol for £1.7X.... Queues, unsurprisingly, have been enormous!

We are promised a drop in price soon but not seen one yet around here. Car is very low so I hope they drop the price in the next couple of days or I will just have to do part fill and see what happens after that.

When our kids were still at home, going out for the day would involve, "spot the red car" now it's "how much is Diesel". 😃

When prices were climbing we noticed one station that was a couple of pence cheaper than most. Both of us commented that, "1.96 that's not a bad price.". Then laughed.

Amazing what you get used to😁

I just cannot understand some people, our local garage has diesel at 188.9 and reckon he will go down more soon. SO why do lots of people go no further than 1 mile and pay 196 to 199.?.

You have to look at whether its worth travelling further to get a few pence shaved off the price.

In some case travelling the extra distance costs more than the saving. Dont forget the real cost of running vehicle should consider the other overheads such as tax and insurance, servicing and wear and tear.

The RAC have worked out that cars cost between 23.8 and 89.1p per mile to run
