Gagakev. Founder Member of the Woosies

It is with much sadness I have to announce our Founder Member of the Woosie Round Table ,Kevin Patrick Collins, better known as Gagakev passed away on the 29th April .

He fought valiantly over the last 12 months enduring three major operations sadly to no avail.

Kev ,as we all knew him ,was a Practical Caravanner through and through. He created the Woosie thread over 15 years ago and until recently was a prolific poster. His vision for the Woosies was one of Community,Friendship and all things Caravan and fun.

He was skilled and articulate bringing a large number of Woosies from all walks of life to one very happy family of caravanners. He was one of the most honest and straight forward chaps you could ever meet.

He and Woodlands Camper, Graham Shepard, started the Woosie thread discussing all the aspects of caravan lavatorial matters.

Kev was one of our first crowned Woosie Kings . His Coronation took place at a very early Woosiefest at Poston Mill Golden Valley Peterchurch, Herefordshire.

Kev, was more than just a King. He was entertaining , knowledgable and good fun to be with. Until this year he and Maggie always attended the Woosiefests throughout the U.K. He was the first Woosie to suffer a Thetford waste tank seizure. He and the Woosies fixed it on site with a new blade. From that day on he always carried a spare blade!

Maggie has asked me to post this lovely photo of Kev from today’s Order of Service. He will be proud to be on screen in Practical Caravan.
Ironically it was Kev , two years ago ,who organised the Woosie Wake for Parksy , our departed Mod.

Kev ,we will all raise a glass of Dartmoor Jail Ale, your favourite, in thanks for all you did for the Woosies.

Yes a lovely send off for Kev today down at Torbay crematorium.
Full of memories of a great all round genuine guy.
Belinda and I met Kev and Maggie at Stowford Farm Meadows campsite back in 2010.
A reader rally used to be organised there by Practical Caravan Magazine.
I'd had banter on the forum with Kev but a face to face meeting set in motion a lasting friendship.
Ever since that meeting the four of us have met up regularly either at Woosie meets or other occasions.
Such a pleasure to get to know Kevs children and grand children who are going to miss their Gaga.
I've had two bouts of cancer treatment a while back and Kev and Maggie were very understanding and
supportive.
Very cruel that cancer has taken Kev at such a relatively young age.

Kevin a great friend and mate who will be greatly missed.

I also had the privilege of meeting Kev and Mags at the WoosieFests. It is so sad that we have lost him. A warm and genuine man with a mischievous sense of humour.
Mel
