Could somebody tell me the size of my gas bottle spanner ? is it 25mm or 27mm. I use Calorlite bottles if that makes any difference. The reason i ask is i want a new one as i am not impressed with the cheap one i bought and said spanner is in the van down at the storage site so while its fresh in my mind i feel like a spot of retail therapy.

buy a decent adjustable one, that way one spanner fits all from battery terminals to corners says and of course propane regulators,
I use on of these.

Or to make it that bit easier, why not change the pigtail to a Easy-fit type

Thanks I have just ordered one. I was debating whether to go for the stainless steel one or the rubber as the stainless one last 20 years with no issues, however with the rubber one apparently I can take off the adapator and fit it onto a new hose plus it is £20 cheaper. Unlikely we will be caravanning in 20 years time though.

how does the adaptor fit. From the Leisure Shop website it looks as if the bottle end assembly is a swaged fit.

Why not use some common sense and take the cheap one along to the shop (if it fits of course) match it with a more expensive one and buy it!

The Gaslow Easy-Fit hand wheel connectors are great, especially if in a confined space. I also feel more confident with their rubber seal on the end.
I found using a spanner, often back to front in the vans locker too much of a faff.

I am very pleased with the stainless steel type that I bought.

New spanner now sitting at home here. purchased on the internet. It will stay in the van so it doesn't go walkabouts for other uses and save my knuckles. 30 secs hard work clicking away. Job done.

......for me gas connector spanners are a thing of the past and a good job too!

Get yourself a hand wheel type as Sprocket has said..... easier to get a gas tight seal.
The connector has a seal made of rubber and does not need to be that tight.

Thinking about one of these now, but should it be fitted by a gas safe registered person, or can I do it myself and purchasing the
gas leak detection spray as most of you know I am competant at most things or shall I get it changed by the mobile engineer on next service?

Just make sure that you use a new washer when you fasten it to the regulator & ideally check with some sort of leak detector spray with the bottle cracked open & the pipe pressurised......
