Hi all, Im wondering if you can get a double adapter for lpg gas bottles so i can use the same bottle for the barbi and the caravan.

The problem is one of nose weight, so to reduce this from the front rather than overload the back I was thinking of using 1 bottle only thus reducing around 15kg for a full bottle of 6kg propane. This would nearly solve the problem however when we want to use the barbi the gas bottle will have to be disconected and removed each time and also couldnt use the oven for the garic bread.

If I had an external gas pont fitted

1/ how much would this cost

2/ would a hole have to be cut into the van or could it be fitted into the front locker

3/ would it invalidate the caravan warrentte as its new

Hello Kevin,

I cant tell how much, but it certainly is possible to have a BBQ gas point fitted. These should have a self sealing coupling, to prevent gas escape when teh BBQ is connected/disconnected, but for additional safety, an isolating valve should be fitted.

It should be possible to have the fitting installed in the bottle locker, but this depends on the details of your caravan.

This work should be planned and carried out by a competent fitter, and providing this is done then you warranty should not be affected.

You could of course compromise and use a Camping Gaz 907, or smaller cylinder for your BBQ. This would allow you to save weight and have the 907 as back up, just in case you run out of propane on a dark and windy night. I know it is butane, but you don't normally BBQ in the winter, do you?
