Gas cylinders for the Cadac BBQ

We have just purchased a Cadac BBQ and a lovely peice of kit it is too. Reading through the user booklet it says to use a 9kg gas cylinder. Does the size of the cylinder really matter, because at the moment I use 12kg for the van and don't want to have to buy yet another cylinder.

Hi Phil,

No the cylinder size doesn't matter, before we sold our Cadac we used ours with a Camping Gaz 907 (the 2.6 kg bottle)

Nothing wrong with the Cadac - but we use our Foker boiling ring and paella pan or Fait Tout pan much more - and these are much more compact

Hi Phil,

As Robert says there is very little diffrence on the cylinders you use. We use either a 7kg calor butane or the camping gaz 907 and the pressure is not apperently diffrent, just different regulators. The only reason I have not mentioned propane is I have not got a regulator for that type. As far as the Cadac goes I could not agree more, a fantastic piece of kit( even though it weighs a fair bit).

I use a camping gaz 907 cylinder with my cadac as I only use these in my van. Cadac is excellent but a pain to clean. I have cut the bottom off an old plastic drum to use to soak the various bits off the cadac before cleaning. I'll see how I get on in France soon.

Graeme.
