Gas light?

I have today taken delivery of my first ever caravan, a 1980 Avondale Perle Olympus Supreme.

She is clean and dry and in generally good order, but it's a bit of a project for me!

What I thought would be an electric light, in the middle at the front end, looks like the sort of 'bulb' my grandmother had on a paraffin heater. It's covered by a shade which makes me think it would be odd to have a naked flame behind it.

Any ideas? I'd like to have something working there, but might need to strong-arm my father into helping me put something electric in its place.

Gas mantles - It should not be too difficult to replace it with some kind of 12v lighting, try a caravan breakers.

I am assuming you already may have some 12v equipment like a pump and battery if not it may be more complicated but all the stuff should be obtainable from a breakers
