Hi after another conversation with the site maager this afternoon - It would appear this is very common of Park Resorts parks. All Calor Gas bottles must be in a unit from www.asgardsss.co.uk Can I check this is the case??

Thanks All

If your caravan is a static then I'm afraid that the rules are whatever the site owners say that they are.

Static caravans have been advertised by park owners extensively in the press and on the radio. These adverts show all of the benefits of owning a static caravan but they tend to draw a veil over any drawbacks.

Basically static sites or 'parks' are a a source of income for site owners.

Normally a static site can prohibit units over a certain age, in some cases ten years. The hapless static owner then has to buy another unit from that park exclusively and at a price dictated by them. If a static owner decided to sell his unit after say, five years then it can only be sold to the site owners at a price dictated by them.

Then the pitches have to be kept tidy, the unit maintained to the standards dictated by the site and if the site owners say that you can only have one particular type of LPG storage unit (usually bought via the site so that they get their cut) then a static owner would be unwise to argue the toss.

The site will have a list of terms and conditions which you agree to as a condition of having your unit on that park.

Tourers also have to abide by T&C's, rules etc but it's much easier for us to vote with our towing hitch if we dont agree to the rules.

Apart from that I'm sure that you will enjoy your breaks in the static.

Parksy.

Your comments above mirror exactly what we experienced on our site with the static caravan.

Ours had a limit of 15 years, then would have had to purchase another van from the site owners.

My maths isnt very good but for anyone buying a van for say,£25,000 and £5,000 a year site fees(as ours were)i think that works out at about £128 every week of the year for 15 years.

Although we did have a few good holidays in our static,it is certainly a lot of money.

I've read some real horror stories on various forums from static owners who have lost their money Adrian.

They say that there's no sentiment in business but I wonder how some of the static site owners sleep at night.
