Gaslow refillable cylinders and use abroad

Rather than worry about what cylinders and different connectors I was wondering about converting to refillable cylinders by Gaslow. This would appear to have the advantage of generally cheaper gas (LPG that I usually use) and ready availability except Spain.

Does anyone have experience of this system and its use around Europe?

Hi Paul,

Have had a single Gaslow cylinder on van for over 2 years now, had no problems re-filling or with any of the system.

What i done was mount the filler on a bracket rather than cut the hole in side of the van, this makes it easy to change the system over to the next van and if like where i have my van serviced you have to remove all gas cylinders when taking the van in makes this easy to do.

Haven't taken van abroad yet but have driven down to luxembourg and had no problem getting gas for my car, i found the gas more readily available over their than over here.

What i done was as you see the adapters for sale in the service stations buy them then, they are much cheaper than buying them over here.

Hope this helps

Paul

Hi Paul (and Paul).

I raised this question on here a little while ago and had some positive feedback. The Gaslow system does seem to be the solution for gas supplies when touring in Europe (and the UK), but the drawback seems to be that if you want to spend time in Spain you cannot refil them there .......unless somebody knows otherwise?

I have not been able to get a definitive answer re Spain. Can anybody help?

Thanks for the comments from you all.

Keith,

It was only recently I read in one of the magazines in relation to Spain that at present their are only a dozen or so garages selling gas. That was rather like the UK a few years ago, but now mant are selling it.

The idea of having the van with you when you need to fill up with gas is perhaps a little disruptive if you are all set up. I had thought that with the type of filling connector that you could have taken the cylinder to the gas pump. But perhaps with 2 cylinders, it should last a while and it is just filling up between moves.
