Get Out and Get A Life

I've recently returned after a spell away because of the petty bickering in here about 4x4's, I return and what do I find? A bunch of people bickering about 4x4's!

What does it matter how many wheels are the driven wheels on anyone's car? Why should it bother anyone else? If someone can afford to buy and own one, then let them. I have an expensive hobby but no-one tells me off for wasting money and destroying the planet.

Just about every other thread on this forum is about a certain style of car. If you have so much time on your hands that all you can do is complain about a certain style of car then get out and do some voluntary work and do something good with your time.

Just live and let live. Life is too short to get stressed out about petty things.

Cheers

Agree Mark,

It is pollutants that a Vehicle emits and not the Drive Train should be the debate. In fact I thought it was on talk back or something like that this morning, on the BBC. When someone corrected a news report saying why do people insist on labelling 4x4s as Gas Guzzlers why not all Large Cars, People Carriers Vans etc ??.

Time to widen the debate !!! instead of trying to defend our drive trains. Lets make sure everyone who drives a 2 lt and above is tarred with the same brush.

So does that mean that haulage companies get rid of Artics and buy 7 ton Ford Cargo's.

Some people have a need for large cars, some don't. Why should anyone be picked on. The larger vehicles pay more tax at point of purchase and more on running cost and always have done.

Its not as though vehicle tax just covers motoring costs in the UK.

well i thourt this forum was ror people to debate things and the 4x4 link was doing just that so why mone 117 entereys is a good way off seeing what people think but some people have to moan about that to me it is one of the best

Benny,

I'm not against people debating things but why does it have to be the basis of half the threads on this forum? Look back over the last few pages and you will see so many threads with "4x4" in the title.

Mark has made his choice of tow car as I and many others have done with theirs.

I've driven the type of car Mark has quite often and it is a great car. It obviously suits his requirements and his towing needs.

The car has the power to tow my van but not a good weight match and the 3 series is a small car cabin wise for someone of mine and my families build. There are loads of things that could be picked at with his choice I guess.

Not by me though because it is a superb car and it suits his needs. If people could just leave a Vitara or a Sorento driver to their choice instead of bitching about X x X all would be quiet.

The whole X x X thing is about others picking at others choices and deciding what should suit the drivers life style and needs without knowing b all about them.

Totally agree with you Euro. That is exactly what I have been talking about. Why should someone be shouted at for making their choice of car, what is right for someone may not be right for someone else but why should someone tell them they have made a bad choice?

Because believe it or not there are people out there who are on some kind of mission to try and convince others that their car/motorbike/drill/caravan/widget etc etc is the best thing since sliced bread and is better than what "you" have.

Personal choice is not something that they recognise. They HAVE to believe that their choice is "best".

The fact that those of us that tow with AWD vehicles state that they make better tow vehicles is like a red rag to a bull to them.

I (like most people) do not care what others tow with. But when the CC awards "Towcar of the year" to a 4x4 - I find it hard to get to grip with some of the "no need to have a 4x4 - I tow a twin axle with a Fiat Panda" statements.

Still - it gives us all a laugh!
