For anyone who has not taken advantage of the Marriage Allowance, just a reminder that the claim can be made for the previous 4 years plus this current year.
Basically if one of you pays tax on your income but your other half does not pay any tax on their income, then an amount of taxable income can be transferred to the lower income person, so reducing the higher tax payers tax bill.
The details are here and it only takes a couple of minutes to register a claim on line. https://www.gov.uk/marriage-allowance
I have just done it as I have an income on which I pay tax, but my wife does not and even transferring the amount I can still brings her income to less that the threshold to pay any tax.
I will be getting a cheque for around £1000 in the next few days.
