this is an excellent site

the beach is indeed very close, rocks at each end of bay

great for prawning/fishing.

beach stony but clean also no dogs allowed, but shelves steeply

and can be risky for non swimmers.

pub the "anchor" great local beer and food.

the towns of bridport, the small harbour at west bay, kayak up the river ideal for novices, one canoe club and a sea scout troop, all use this river and its free. lyme regis, weymouth within easy reach.

the area is great for boating, particularly kayaking, although be aware of the swell breaking on the beach.

enjoy and welcome to my home village.

Many thanks Roger, where is best access to the river for parking etc.

Tim
should have mentioned the river is at west bay

approx 3/4 miles away, good car parks although not cheap,

busy in summer, public slip way into river, although the boat higher chappie seems to think he owns it. You can launch from river banks not terribly enviromently friendly though.

keep an eye open for canoe club/sea scouts, they will help.
