Hi

Iv'e been reading the magazine for about 12 months now and have been to the caravan show down in the NEC last year looking at all the options which there are so many, after 15 years in a tent and a very wet summer last year the other half has decided on something with a bit more comfort so we have just put a deposit on a Swift conquerer 645 and managed to get a really good deal on it.We will be towing with a disco 3 and can't wait to pick it up but it wont be delivered until the first week in march. Now we have the the problem of deciding full or half or porch awning? and the fun of putting it up while everybody has a good laugh!Any way look forward to soaking up more off the excellent info on this forum and mag and enjoying seeing a bit more of the country and further afield.

Regards

Mark

Hi Mark

Jokes apart I'd be very disappointed if anyone laughs at you on site when trying to erect an awning. We all started once . Indeed even a new awning requires care and time in erection even by an old lag like me.

We use a full size awning on breaks of 1 week or more. Anything less we use the porch awning.

Good luck and enjoy every minute.

Cheers

Hi Dustydog

Thanks for the reply,I think a bit of practice at home before we go public with the awnings, weve got a couple of dogs so the awning will be essential to keep muddy paws out of the caravan. Its a good idea about using the different size porches is there alot of time difference between putting the 2 up?

We have a Bailey Senator Wyoming. The main Isabella takes us about an hour or so to fuly erect. Mainly becuase we don't ruch and it has dozens of pegs. Plus we peg the fground sheet to keep it spaniel proof. Joke because theyboth escape!

The porch awning takes about 30 mins max, again without rushing, less pegs.

If you get stuck I can assure you there are plenty of people who rather than laugh at you will gladly come and help without being interferring .

Best of luck.

I would go away in your van first and decide wether you really need an awning. There are only two of us and we don't have one. Just a roll out one, no walls and definitely no pegging. Takes 3 minutes to erect.

I have to admit we laugh at people who arrive on site and take 2 hours to erect the awning just for a weekend.

That's a bit mean mate!

Both I and Mark have two dogs. We need an awning of some sort just to dry them off before they come into the caravan.

If you want to laugh at me and others who put up awnings you really must be a saddo.

Rather than laugh why don't you offer to help???

Some people may not be as tolerant as me and you may end up getting a "knuckle sandwich" if you laugh at the wrong person.

Cheers
