Good Morning all,

I am thinking about selling my t5 campervan as since we have a caravan now it will get little use for camping.

It makes sense to purchase a vehicle that will tow my swift challenger 625 se , currently we are using the wife's xc60.

I will be looking to spend around 12k for what will be our second car ,Heard good things about kia ?

Any ideas will be very welcome.

Cheers.

We tow our 2000kg twin axle with a Jeep Grand Cherokee CRD. A good tower and at 58mph we get about 22-23mpg. It also has all the "boys toys" Whatever you decide get a towing vehicle with an air suspension as it makes towing just that bit more comfortable.

Is your camper capable of towing the caravan?

It would seem that the optimal outfit for touring is a caravan for your fixed accommodation and a camper to use as your transport and as a day-van for excursions with cooking/cleaning facilities and perhaps your own onboard porta-potti.

That is a good question.

Rather like caravans, camper vans and motorhomes usually have most of their payload capacity taken up withe the weight of the fittings and fixture, not leaving a lot of capacity for towing. We do see some larger motorhomes towing small cars, but small is the criteria, so its most likely a decent caravan would be beyond the vans towing capacity, But there's nothing lost in trying to find out.

Hi, yes the camper would tow but as said with it being a fully kitted campervan it is on the limits.

The camper is also on lowering springs and the tow hitch is the 7 pin electrics so would need these issues sorted , to be honest i haven't even hitched it onto my van yet as the 7 pin is no good for my caravan atc.

🤔🤔👍

I’m a big fan of Korean cars Well built and reliable. As long as you’re not a badge snob they do the job very well. We now prefer towing with a pickup truck but prior to this we ran a 2014 Sorento KX2 auto, towing a TA Swift 645 faultlessly for 4 years and 60k miles.( No, tell a lie it needed a new radio aerial). We’ve had Nissans, Volvos and a Mercedes. Best of the bunch all round was the Kia.

Fraseb01, if you have, digital radio on it. Switch it to "Radio" before accessing system ☆ , the whole satnav radio etc will freeze. The only way out of that is to Shut down the car , lock it and leave for 5 to 10 minutes. The computer will reboot its self. And all will be ok. Otherwise a fantastic car. Send me a pM if you need any help.

Oops , Google isn't always correct sorry, i just done a quick search, i should have actually took time and read a few search results.

Yes you are totally correct 👍👍
I thought about it as recently someone bought an XC90 and a Buccaneer caravan. The Buccaneer caravan nose weight is a maximum of 150kg and it is nearly impossible to gte it below 120kg without compromising safety. The Volvo XC90 bought had a maximum nose weight of 90kg so after a month it had to be traded in at a loss.
