Are they the D-loop ones with the slightly textured finish that get the 'fungal' discolouration? Put the marigolds on, and wrap some old dishclouts round them soaked in diluted bleach. I haven't got around to it yet but I've heard it works.

Hi Carl , well this is a job my van needed badly, so I removed them rubbed them down and resprayed them .

My van is from the Swift stable so I contacted Andy and Ash to get the colour and away I went.

I hope this helps .

Carl, mine are white, i T-Cut them and continue to do this every couple of washes
Ours had kind of perished and were covered in tiny cracks which no amount of scrubbing, soaking, etc. would clean so we bought a new set,

Are you sure you don't mean "brake cleaning fluid"???? It's great stuff. If you do mean "brake fluid" then I'm not sure I'd like any of that near my paintwork.

Sir Roger's solution sounds the best to me.

Cheers

How do you get the grab handles off? Ours have absolutely no sign of screws or obvious fixing points, nor anywhere which looks like it might prise up or off. They're the equivalent to those on a year 2000 Swift, just curved plastic which has gone very grey. We've cleaned up the rest of the van and it looks lovely - and we've even restored some shine to the front panel but the front and rear grab handles really let it down.

I've been watching this with interest, but worried that I might damage something if I try to get them off.

Not sure about your Swift but the handles on our Bailey are attached with nuts, accessed from within the front locker. Attacked from behind!

Thanks Dustydog: Do you know I never thought to look in there! I've had a good look around at the inside of the van and couldn't find anything! I'll have a look next weekend when we're 'doing jobs' on the caravan!

Doh!!!!!
