Green buggy things in the van

Morning,

Just wondered if anyone had come across these before?!

We keep getting these little (about a half inch long) green buggy things with translucent wings appear in the van.

We get rid of one and another will appear... no, it's not because of too much pop!

Any idea what the may be and where the little blighters are hiding themselves?

We're thinking of spraying the van with insect repellent, but would soon try to find the source and get rid rather than sink the whole van out!

Thanks in advance.

I think what you have are "lacewings". We get them in our van to but dont do anything about them.

I dont know where they come from or how to get rid of them.

Vickey,

They are Lacewings, totaly harmless and a good friend to the gardener as their diet includes aphides.

They must have entered your van last autumn and overwintered there until I suspect you either put your heating on, or you had a more day which brought them out.

Just open your doors and windows on the next warm day and they will leave on their own accord.

Best wishes,

Pop.

Hi Pop,

I'd guess that - glad I'm not the only one with dyslexic fingers! We do let them go, as I don't like to kill them, but I just wondered if I could stop them getting in! Hopefully once they've all flewn the nest(or van) that will be it.

Thanks,

Vicky

They are Lacewings, harmless but very benefical to the garden & gardeners as they eat pests. We found one in our 'van when we went away in it the other week. They obviously picked the caravans to overwinter, sometimes find them indoors too. If you find one, gently pick it up & put it outside somewhere safe.
