Well Halloween is just around the corner.
Who is staying indoors to entertain the lovely neighbourhood kids?
Or escaping to a nearby restaurant or pub?

My OH and I have reserved a table in a nice quiet country restaurant, a treat without no tricks!!!!

Himself is in the process of giving my broomstick its annual service and I shall be in the sky as usual on Halloween! The take off is magical but I always end up crashlanding miles from home!!! We stock up on goodies ready for the muggers at the door. Last year my favourite was a tiny baby dressed as a pumpkin "SOOOO CUTE" And NO I didnt eat it??????

I haven't got time for it, bl**dy stoooopid Yankee customs. Another way to force parents to spend their money on cheap tack plus scaring the poop out of elderly people who live alone. I just wish they'd ban it and while at it ban bonfire night which scares the poop out of wildlife

I've got a sign from West Mercia Police that I put in the window

I'm happy to have a bag of sweeties at the door for the local children. They should respect people with signs in the window; but I think it is fun to join in as a sweetie dispenser.

Well, as much as I disagree with this American idea which has come over here, I'll be buying some sweets for the little darlings. However, I do find that if I open the front door with a scary looking dog each side of me, it keeps the kids a few feet away from me and they are more than happy to grab what's on the plate and scarper.

Lisa,
When anyone even sets foot on our drive let alone rings our door bell it must sound to them as thought they are about to be eaten alive by the Hound of the Baskerville's - you really wouldn't think that two Border Collies could make so much menacing noise !
Tends to cut out 'casual callers'

Yep, I'm a total softy. Plus when I have dispensed sufficient sugar and e-numbers they can go home to their parents nicely hyperactive.

I have the oil boiling in the cauldron above the door, have not fed the dogs today so they are hungry, just waiting for the first victim.
The Bullmastiff loves children(preferably lightly fried)

(The bit about children was a joke for the PC Brigade, the oil is not)

Only one knock on the door last night about 6 o'clock. Three small children beautifully dressed up as monsters with mother watching from the garden gate. I quite like it if the effort has been put in. It's the teenagers with nothing more than a 30 pence mask demanding money I don't like. They get very short shrirft. I now have to eat the rest of the bumper pack of chocci bars especially bought for the night. Oh, how I suffer!

We had quite a few callers - mostly children of people we know who live nearby, sometimes accompanied by a parent. All of them had made a real effort to dress up and some were really good. One wasn't dressed up - but said he was David Tennant being Dr Who! We had a tin of chocolates and all helped themselves, and there are lots left this morning, so none were too greedy. We even had a pumpkin head mask to answer the door and repeat 'Trick' - which quite shocked some of them. One little one actually ran back down the path! However his mum was at the gate and reassured him (and laughed like mad!)

We have for the past few years do a "Haunted House" for charity, we put two gazibeos outside our front door, fill them with all things scary, put some black lights up dress up in scary costumes, and frighten the local kids. The teenage girls are the best, screeming and running away. We ask for a donation for charity. My husband dresses in a skeleton costume, makes the kids knock on the door to trick or treat, as he runs a disco he has loud speakers and a fog machine, he appears at the door glowing in the fog and dark, scares them and all this for a lolly pop!!!! We always have a laugh, especially when we see the local tough kids daring each other to go in, and then running out!!!! Unfortunatly this was our last year, as Halloween has now moved to a week night my husband cant get time off work.
