Daughter abroad, son does not believe in cards. Had card from grandchildren with box of Maltesers. Just another Sunday - washing up of breakfast and dinner dishes (Where is Liz when she is needed with her mop and bucket?). Run son down the pub in car and then whatever SWMBO wishes to do.

Just my personal opinion but I would prefer my kids to keep their money and put it to some good use for themselves or their families. I realise the thought is there but these mothers/fathers days are just commercialised to get people to spend.

Lord B. I agree with you 100%. I instilled in my son many years ago not to bother with a card for me for either Father's Day or my birthday and to keep the money and enjoy it himself. I have also told my children not to buy anything for my birthday or Christmas as I have all that I need as an average family man. My daughter will still insist on a card. My wife and I do not spend on each other at these days. If either of us should want something well we go out and buy it - she has not begrudged me anything I have bought and likewise she can buy as she pleases. We have a little savings in the house and she knows where it is if she wants it and also she has the same plastic cards as I have. Fair is fair.

Nice to have you back sir - hope you had a good break and returned afresh. Ready to go again no doubt though.

I received my gifts yesterday.

I have a 6 year old son who makes his gifts at school. To me these are better than bought gifts.
