Height restrictions on Norfolkline

Does anyone have any experience of carrying bikes on a roofrack on Norfolkline? How strict are they about height limits?

If necessary I could take them off and put them inside the van for the duration of the crossing but would prefer not to unless it is really necessary. (Mine are about 2.4m high.)

Hi Ron.

We have travelled twice with Norfolk Line with bikes on the roof rack, plus caravan. No problems on either occassion and we will be doing the same this coming Sunday for five weeks away - heading for Austria.

Like you, we would be prepared to temporarily store the bikes in the 'van' if necessary.

Enjoy your holidays,

Trevor M.

Thanks trevor. We are also travelling on Sunday (but only for three weeks - OH won't leave the garden for longer!) probably heading for Brittany.

Have a good one,

Ron.

Given that you are already paying to accomodate the height of a caravan it always seems unfair that you still have to pay extra for the added height of bikes on the car roof.

Had this discussion once with Brittany Ferries; got told that they reserve the right to separate the unit. Never ever know it happen in my circle of acquaints, feel its more motivated by extracting extra funds.

That's true. It was a 'run in' with a BF operative some years ago that prompted my question.
