Hi again everyone,

I joined last year as I was just about to pick up a lovely little Mardon caravan but unfortunately my tow car got written off after a woman in a people carrier drove into the side of me. She was emerging from a junction and didn't look.

Anyway, after much messing about, I'm just about ready to get a van again. I have already posted a couple of questions in the technical forum and no doubt will have plenty more!

Looking forward to getting to know everyone again,

Netti (and Jaz the dog)

Hello we are Simon & Naomi who have just traded our Motorhome for a car/caravan combo. This is not new to us as we used to have a van 15 years ago, but after 4 motorhomes are returning to caravanning

Our outfit is a 2004 Swift Challenger 500SE towed by 2002 Vectra 3.2V6 with a kerbweight of 1575kg, the MTPLM on the van being 1425kg. With all of our experiences of vans in the past plus the motorhomes we know how much we take away (no awning either) and even if fully loaded will tow at 90% but in reality more like 86/87. We looked at 4 x4 cars but decided that as the car has to be used day to day by my wife and taking into account the impressive reliability of my Company Vectras 6 years 280,000 mile in 3 cars with no breakdowns and only 1 visit to the dealers for a wiper motor outside of normal sevicing we went for the big engined Vectra which we were lucky to find with 27000 genuine miles on at our local dealer.

1 question though, why dont (or why not?) caravanners fit Fiamma roll out awnings such as on all our 4 motorhomes, same GRP type skins, maybe someone can tell me why as my previous experience of an awning 17 years ago put me right off !!
