Hi to you all,

We have beeen caravanning for just over a year, me, hubby, 6yr old daughter and a overexcitable black lab!!

I have to say that we wished that we had bought one years ago! Unlike all you lucky lot we can only use the van in winter as we don't have any time off in summer (the joys of growing lettuce)so any ideas for sites that are about 1 hours drive from Preston will always be recived with open arms.

Our outfit is a coachman laser and bright red warrior pick up.

See you out and about.

A big welcome Aimee and company. We have been caravanning for years but this year is the first time we havebeen out late in the year in this country. It was a beautiful time in Norfolk and we did have the really bad wind and rain just before we came home.It was nice and snuggly in the van after we came back from walking THE BEARS (pomeranians)!!!! ENJOY YOURSELVES.

Hi aimee, as a sometime resident of NW Lancs - Bispham near Parbold - I appreciate you only have the choice of north south or east - west tends to be a bit wet !

From Preston (area) you could get to Kendal (although that too may be a bit damp at present) or to Hawes or to the two CC sites on the Wirral.

If you are not a member of CC or the other major club yet, seriously suggest you join one or both. Can't speak for CC&C but caravan club sebsite lets you search for sites and Cl's by county or by town and gives you some idea of what's around.

For your first couple of trips suggest you allow yourself plenty of time as it is not much fun trying to find out how things work in the dark ( not caravan things anyway). If you keep you van at home, keep the mains electricity connected to it, and your on-board battery will stay charged. have a little practice with the mover too - don't have to move the van more than a couple of feet to get the hang of it.

If you are growing lettuce you may be south of Preston ? - or perhaps towards Wharton ? Can be windy up there.

Don't hesitate to post again if you have specific questions, but read the headings to get your enquiry into the right "box" or there may not be too many replies.

Welcome to our obsession ! Ray S
