My wife & i have recently started caravanning for the 2nd time in our lives, we met each other whilst caravanning with our parents 25 years ago rallying with the what was then the south west yorks group, now the yorks pennine group.

we decided that now we are in our forties we needed something tomake us slow down a little and make us relax.so one saturday off from work we went to alocal dealer in our home town, Huddersfield to ask advice on what weight my car would tow safely, whilst there my wife jackie fell in love with a Dethleffs 2 berth camper and the rest is history as they say.

Welcome to the forum. Good to read that you have returned to caravanning once again - once you've known the pleasure of caravanning, it never really leaves you!

Happy and safe caravanning to you both.

Really nice to read your story. We're both 40 this year and bought our first caravan in Oct 07 (it took Claire ages to persuade Rob and she only managed it after promising to do the towing!). We've got 3 kids and we got fed up of paying inflated prices for static caravans so took the plunge and bought our tourer. We just love spending time together as a family and seeing loads of different parts of the country. We often have stopovers on CLs on long journies and this way we see places that we'd never have dreamt of going for a holiday. We get away for about 6 weeks away and a few weekends on top which is far more than we ever managed before. We've lots of caravanning friends too which is great as all our kids get along famously and us adults can relax in each others' company knowing they're happy.

Cheers

Claire & Rob
