My name is Simon and I am the Art Editor of the magazine. If any of you have any thoughts or suggestions as to how I can improve the look of the magazine I would welcome your comments.
Come on now, don't be shy!
Happy touring.

Hi Simon, it looks as though nobody else is going to welcome you to the forum so you're stuck with my greeting I'm afraid.
I'm not sure what improvements you could make to the look of the magazine, it looks fine as it is for me but hopefully you will have some feedback from the more artistic souls amongst our membership.
Nice to see Haymarket editorial staff playing a bigger part in forum life

hi Simon. Sorry missed your post. Welcome to the forum. I must confess I don't know what bits of a magazine an art editor would be responsible for. Is it photography, or something else? I have all the artistic ability of house brick but if you pass on a bit more about your role, I am sure that I will have an opinion. (I do about most things

Hello all,
Thanks for your kind responses.
In answer to your questions, as art editor I am responsible for the look of the magazine. This will include commissioning photographers to accompany our writers on their many trips, and (hopefully) bringing back some stunning and inspiring pics.
I also lay out the majority of the pages in the magazine, so I will then take those pictures, and design them together with the copy to produce the magazine you hold in your hands. I try to get things across in such a way that the reader can imaging themselves in the shoes of the writer, and maybe inspire them to try a similar trip themselves.
I am also kept busy planning and art directing our cover shoots. This is something that myself and Nigel the editor will often speak about a long way in advance of the issue. It can often be quite a difficult job bringing together all the different elements to get just the right shot!
I would really appreciate any feedback from you guys on what you would like to see on our covers. If you know any areas of the country that you think would make a stunning cover or opening shot for a travel feature, tell us about it and you never know, you just might have a big hand in making a Practical Caravan cover yourselves.
Many thanks.
Simon.
