Hi folks,
I'd just like to say hello and say thank you to Parky who directed me here. We are brand new to caravanning and although nearly of retirement age, well 7 years to go for me, have bought a Bailey Pageant CD Magenta 2 berth. To tug it along, we have changed our car from an automatic Fofus estate to a Rover 75 diesel estate, it should be ok with this
Cheers

Hi to both of you,
Welcome to the world of caravanning, and to this Forum. I hope you come to enjoy caravanning as much as we do - we've had our current caravan ten years, and the previous one for six years before that. We did look at a Rover 75 diesel estate (nice car!!!) when we had to buy our current car when OH was made redundant in February, but couldn't find a nice example, so we've stuck to the devil we know - a Ford Monde Diesel Estate! It tows well, and makes a comfortable tow car for us.
If you need any advice on caravanning issues this is the place to find it. You'll find my main contributions are to the 'Abroad' section of the forum, but I pop in and out of the other bits when I'm short of something else to do!!!
You'll find nice friendly people, and a warm welcome on here.

Hi Nige and Jacky. Welcome to the forum. There is lots of expertise on here, (not me I'm afraid) so if you have any questions ask away. 7 years to retirement eh? I'm also counting down and hoping that I'll still have a pension!

Hi and welcome Nige & Jackie, nice to see that you nipped over from BCG.
If there's anything that you want to know about your caravan or caravanning in general this is where you will find the answers as well as tips and technical know how.

Yes, we're getting the van how we want it and buying loads of bits for it (Jackie loves shopping

) I can't see us actually going anywhere this year though as all of our caravanning friends and relations are either away for their last trip of the season, or are going this week-end. Unfortunately we can't join them because the Rover tow bar hasn't been wired up and although our nephew has had a half go at it, nobody else seems to want to touch it. It needs a special relay which I have bought otherwise the electrics are toast.....so I've been told. Can-Bus electrics????/
Cheers

Hi Nige and Jackie
Plenty to keep you amused on here.
On the towbar wiring front , assuming your nephew knows what he's doing shouldn't be a problem. Plenty of good tow bar fitters out there who know Rover 75s if you're stuck..

Yes, we might have to find a fitter, we've been let down 3 times this week by a so called mobile auto electrician who simply hasn't turned up

The best is, all the hard work is done, the tow bar is fully fitted, the 7 pin socket and lead is fitted and the lead is in the tyre well, I have the special relay and scotchclips, the only thing to do is get a wire from a live feed (The fusebox under the glove compartment) and feed it down the side of the car to the relay, which will sit inside the light cluster, then another wire from the RHS indicator over to the LHS cluster, then connect the 7 wires to the relay. Sounds simple but I don't know if it actually is
