I have just joined this forum this morning - the one with the dodgy water heater! The response so far has been great and very helpful. I will be looking at my heater on my weekend off ( tues & Wed ) as i work weekends. We decided to take the plunge this year and we bought an Adria Optima 465b for our young family. Just as we bought it our eldest ( 2 1/2 ) decided to break his leg the day we purchased it off ebay. This still did not put us off and we must say a big thank you to the staff of Haven at Mablethorpe for all their help in making it a great two days holiday. It was a great first trip and i think we had the best weather of the summer!

All i can say is heres to a better 2009!

Hi Andy

This year is our 3rd year touring and we have two young children in tow. 2006 was a decent summer but the last two have been poor so this year we decided to go to France in July on a large commercial site. My hubby was a bit reluctant towing abroad, driving it onto the ferries etc etc, we had 3 fantastic weeks in France the weather was 35c, the pitches are huge, twice the size of any I have stayed on in the UK and to top it all off red wine at 2euros a bottle - what more can i say? We didnt even go to the South, we went to the Loire Valley and it was fab! Needless to say we have already booked to go to Disneyland Paris next year and we wont be taking our main caravan holidays in the Uk again, unless our weather improves. We do go away most weekends and bank hols in the van, and we go on rallies with the CC which are good fun. I would certainly recommend France.

Happy caravanning!

Thanks for your comments, its nice to hear from people who have young kids. Ours are 7 months and 3, so disney land is a little way off but we saw the article in PC magazine about it and it had opened our eyes up to France and what it can offer. Its not a million miles away from where we live and if i get my clubcard points sorted we should be able to get across for very little. Have never towed abroad before but used to drive for a living in the uk so am looking foward to the challenge!

I haven't fulyy read the Disney article yet but its certainly drawing me to France next year.

As a youngster I used to go to France (and most of Europe) with my aunt and uncle in their motorhome. France has lots to offer I still remember (30 years later) some of the truely amazing places we visited or stayed at.

We're certainly contemplating taking our 3 year old there next year as he'll be close to 4 come the summer hols
