Hi Stephen, welcome to the forum.
Because there are a few of us Stephens and Steves ( yep, me as well) who post onto this forum I'd suggest that you edit your profile to alter your username slightly, perhaps with a further initial, so that we can distinguish your posts from others.
Tips? There is always plenty of information to be found on this website and forum and if you require specific information just ask away.
There are no 'silly' questions and we were all newbies once.
Tyre and brake safety coupled with correct loading are of paramount importance. Treads on caravan tyres rarely become very worn but nevertheless tyres need to be checked and changed if they have been on the caravan for four years or over because the sidewalls become degraded. Know and maintain the correct tyre pressure and check before towing because a few minutes spent on safety can prevent heartache, financial loss or worse.
Is your towcar of sufficient weight and power to tow your caravan safely and legally and do you have the correct licence to enable you to tow your unit?
Have a look around the website as a whole by clicking on the Home Page from the blue rectangle underneath the Practical Caravan logo.
This will lead to several clickable links including 'beginners' and 'towing law' which will contain valuable information.
Congratulations on your new caravan and may you spend many happy times in it.
