HELP - ELECTRICAL PROBLEM

Please help, we leave for France on Sunday night and have just plugged the van into the electric at home and there is no power in the van. The battery is connected and there is power from that when when we disconnect the battery everything is dead. We have changed the fuse in the connector that plugs into our garage socket checked all the connections but still not working. My husband is sure he has not done anything different from usual. Does anyone have any ideas. We should be packing now I can see us towing to the workshop tomorrow. Thankyou Denise.

Denise, have you made sure the main RCD is in the ON position on the main distribution panel, and all the MCB's are ON?

Forgot to add, also make quite sure the inlet plug is firmly connected to the van , take it out and reconnect to make sure.

Hi Denise,

Don`t want to state the obvious, but are you sure the RCD hasn`t tripped out on the caravan when you`ve hooked up?

It has happened to me in the past (but rarely) and its the first thing to check.

Very best of luck, hope you get away O.K.

Also forgot to ask, have you made sure the socket in the garage is actually powered up by testing with some other mains equipment?

Thanks everyone for your help. Left it last night and went to bed. After reading your replies got my husband to check the connection on the van and the prongs were a bit loose. He got his screwdriver out and started fiddling around and managed to tighten them and hey presto it worked. I think we should get it checked out but he says that its fine and if it happens again we know what to do. The van is going for some cosmetic repairs after the hols so I shall get them to look at it then. Thanks again Denise.
