Hi, thought it was about time i said hello!

I find myself a new lone caravaner, through recent spilt from my wife i now tour alone with my two beautiful greyhounds. I am 31 and own a 2000 swift conqueror 630 lux , which i tow with a 2004 mitsubishi shogun sport.

Just a question, but are there many people out there that tour alone? i've had some strange looks on site! Does anybody know of any singles clubs that run rallies?

i look forwrd to your replies, bye for now!

Pete

Afternoon Pete,

Unfortunately, having a family of 4 i don't know of any singles clubs, however if you belong to the Caravan Club you should be able to register with your local centre, they should then send you a "Rally Book" detailing all of the weekends that they run rally's in your local areas, this is the best way to meet other caravanners and from past experience we have had a few single blokes.

Hope this helps?

Hi There Peter. I don't know why you think that people are giving you strange looks on sites because you are touring alone, I tour alone often and I've never seen any strange looks. sometimes if you look for something long and hard enough you find it even when it doesn't exist. On the other hand.... Years ago i had a friend who toured with a Lurcher and a Whippet and a lot of people thought he was a roving poacher and used to give him knowing looks as if to let him know that they knew what he was about, and they were right, he was a poacher, he hunted rabbits and hares in fields local to the site he was on at the time, I would imagine that they are looking at your dogs.

Hi Peter,

Travelling alone has cropped up before. Why don't you post the question somewhere else like in General and you may get more answers. Funnily enough my wife and I spoke about this a little while ago saying that when one of us passes away will the other one carry on caravanning as we love it so much.

Thanks for the replies, you have made me think (which sometimes hurts lol), thats a good point about the dogs, must admit i hadn't thought that but it does make sense.

I am a Caravan club member, so will give the local centre a call and find out what is about localy,i always enjoy meeting new people don't know why i hadn't already done so! must say not been thinking straight of late!!

Hi Pete

Just wanted to say Hi and Good on you for getting out there...though I have a hubby and little girl...I will at some point relish the chance to take the caravan out on my own and enjoy the peace and tranquility and maybe even get myself on a rally... We are new to the caravanning scene and lots of people tell me that caravanners are rather friendly bunch so I'm sure it won't be long before you have made a huge circle of friends esp on the rallies!!

Good Luck!!!

Hi peter. I don't tour alone as still lumbered with OH and lad; but my goldfish memory makes me think that there is a lone tourers club or maybe even two. The name Phoenix comes to mind. Sorry I know no more but if you google lone caravanners or Phoenix you may find something. In the meantime ignore the funny looks.
