Hi from a couple of Welsh Newcomers

Hi everyone, just want to say hello to you all. We have just bought a 1984 Robin 2 berth, and despite never owning a caravan before, have leapt in with both feet!

Being quite a .......”mature”......... caravan, and us being total novices at this, we will undoubtedly have numerous questions to ask about running, owning and maintaining our new found love. We will apologise now if any questions seem daft, but please bear with us! And if all goes well, we hope to meet some of you on our travels around the U.K. in the near future.

Gosh I haven't seen a Robin on site since I was about 8, think I've got a photo of one somewhere from 1979/1980 It belonged to the grandparents of a boy I met and played with on site at Buckfast. Great when we hear about childhood vans still being used.

Hi Mark and Lucy I've just picked up your post and must say welcome to fellow "mature" van fans, and fellow countrymen!
First thing you need to do is google Retro Caravan Club UK and join our happy band of like-minded enthusiasts.There is a huge wealth of knowledge among our 700+ membership, and we also know how to have fun! Give us a whirl; you won't regret it!
Second, make a note of The Caravan Centre, Blaenavon, 01495 792700, the biggest breakers in Wales, for parts for Forget-me not, should she ever need them.
Third, just enjoy your new-found hobby!

Wow! What a fantastic response! Thank you for the warm welcome, everyone!

Firstly, sorry for the delay in replying, been a busy couple of weeks!

Just a quick update, had reports when we bought Forget-me-not that a fuse had gone, so battery powered items didn’t work. Checked fuses, all fine, but battery was flat. Tried charging but no joy. Just bought a leisure battery and everything works perfectly now as far as we can tell so far, anyway......!

Thanks again for the warm welcome, will post some pictures soon, and may need some advice on hot water in the very near future!
