Hi Everyone, im Carl. Based near Guildford, ive been trekking and camping for many years all over the world, but new to caravans. Im looking to get a small one for me and my gorgeous doggy to use at weekends for a bit of fresh air and to relax. Dont like the idea of parking at a holiday park as im after quiet times to sit down and work on my laptop, dog on my lap, coffee bubbling in the stove. So..if anyone has a spare field let me know! I dont need electricity or anything else - just somewhere to park a van and walk my dog. Im SGC & FAC, BASC member, keen fisherman, trainee pilot and long term charity worker. See you in the forums!

Hi Carl

Welcome to the forum, let us know if you have any questions when you embark on your search for your caravan.

Dean touched on some ideas and I'll translate for you.

CC= Caravan Club

C&CC= Camping and Caravanning Club

These are the two main organisations for Caravanners ( and campers)and they own sites throughout the UK which are of a reasonably high standard.

cl = Certified Location (Caravan Club)

cs = Certified site ( Camping and Caravanning Club)

These are normally Quiet sites in the countryside sometimes (but not always) limited to 5 caravans and in the case of the C&CC an unspecified number of tents.

Facilities and standards vary greatly, some 'Quiet' sites have toilets, showers, ehu (electric hook up) and many have minimal facilities such as somewhere to empty the elsan and a tap for drinking water.

The latter type charge very modest pitch fees and are possibly the kind of thing that you are looking for.

There are many topics dealing with club membership and the differences between the clubs on this forum, have a browse and enjoy.
