Hi Craig,
I commute to my office in Rotterdam almost every other week, and have a great respect for the Dutch way of life and the friendliness of the people, and since I'm assuming that you don't speak Dutch - you'll be pleasantly surprised by the level of competence in English exhibited by most people.
We now split our vacations between the UK, France and Holland - and there are some great camp sites in Holland. Facilities standards are usually up there with the Caravan Club, and pitch size varies in the same way as the UK - city sites are smaller than country sites.
Most sites will have pools, a simple site supermarket, bar and cafe / restaurant.
Unlike the UK, where we have the AA, RAC, Caravan Club, etc., and each may produce their own guides - the Dutch have ANWB (sort of like the AA plus the Caravan Club) and ACSI (www.acsi.nl who have a fully searchable camping guide to Europe on www.eurocampings.net)
Favourite City Site: Delftsehout (www.delftsehout.nl) - pitch sizes about 75 sq. metres. Easy walking distance to Delft city centre and Delft railway station - cheap railway access to Amsterdam / Rotterdam / Leiden) or drive and find the Park and Ride (P+R symbol from the motorways).
Favourite Country Site: Camping Port Zelande (www.campingportzelande.nl) in the south of Holland near Ouddorp - on the coast - three pools - about 100 sq. metres pitch
The people on the Touring and Tenting web-site (www.touringandtenting.com) now display a summary I wrote on two regions (Zuid-Holland and Zeeland) of the Netherlands. May be of some help.
Regards, Robert
