I can't help feeling the touch panel controls are an unnecessary complication for functions that could be readily performed by simple switches. Why do manufacturers seem to thing that making everything touch sensitive is necessary.

I agree with you. In defense of the manufacturer, I can say that it is easier to keep them clean.
In fact, it’s probably because it’s difficult to repair at home and it will force you to buy a new model.

We have had domestic cooker hoods with touch sensitive controls for over 10 years now. They have been totally reliable and since they sit above a cooker having a flush panel makes cleaning far easier than having switches.

Me too. Including a B&O stereo purchased 1983, and still going.

In the caravan we set the air con for humidity and it seems to remove the smells quickly. At home we have a Range cooker hood over the hob and it seems to work well.
