Hi all, I have a 1994 Jubilee Herald when hot water is run in kitchen it slowly stops if I use the one in the toilet it carries on ok no problem. This happens when electric is used not tried it on gas to heat water. Cold water to both taps no problem. If I run the hot tap when the water is cold it will empty the container no problem, Anyone any ideas please.

I'd guess the microswitch in the kitchen hot tap has failed, so all you're getting is residual pressure.
Easy to test - can you hear the pump running when you open the kitchen tap, if you can't then that's the cause - the microswitches can be replaced by they're fiddly - often easier to fit a new tap.

Hi I will change the micro switch, but why does it work when the water is cold. I can run the hot tap in the kitchen without any problems when the water is cold and it will fill the hot water tank from empty. Had a new tap fitted a few years back and they are not cheap.

Hi Trevor
If the water stops once it is hot you may have a problem with the hot water pipe to your tap,on a previous van we had a pipe that was squeezed where it had been pinched after some work had been done, just wondering whether yours could be similar or even whether the pipe softens when warm and closes for some reason. You should be able to trace the pipe back from the tap and eventually to the water heater.other than that I agree with the others and would change the microswitch.

Hello Trevor,

When I first scan read your thread, I agreed with Roger L's suggestion, but following your second post and reading it all again, your final sentence has me baffled.

In 1994 the Cascade 2 GE water heater was fitted to virtually all UK caravans so this is the model you most likely have.

Neither the gas or electric sides of the heater controls the water flow through the heater so you should experience the same effect with either heat source, But I have difficulty in understanding why you should experience this effect only when the water is hot.

If the temperature of the water is the only difference, then the symptom suggests something is reacting to the heat and restricting the flow. I know of nothing inside the heater that would react in this way, Like Woodsie boy I wonder if the hot pipe work its self may be the cause.

Is there a kink in the hot pipe anywhere that when it heats up it softens and then restricts the flow?

If that's not the case, then can can I suggest you carefully double check what happens when ONLY the kitchen hot tap is opened with the heater both cold and hot.

Hi all thanks for your reply's. today I have changed the switch on the tap. I then filled up the system and turned on the heater for a good 45 mins so it was realy hot water that was in the system. I then ran the water hot only through and no problem. Wonder if the temperature at the tap was affecting the switch, will run more water off for the washing up save wasteing it, its been turned off for just over an hour now.
